Reading Groups and Book Clubs have caught the ear and pen of Miss Manners! Her advice on a thorny book club issue is excellent. But, gentle reader, isn’t it always!

And now, doesn’t this beat all! CBS will launch a new one-hour series called Tuesday Night Book Club which follows the lives of seven real women in a middle-class suburb as they deal with the day-to-day pressures of raising kids, maintaining households, satisfying their husbands and sharing their intimate secrets. It seems this book club might need Miss Manners’ advice.  I have yet to seen anywhere where the books get mentioned or discussed!  So, I’ll hold my thoughts on that one. I’ve always have fun and learned some much at BookExpo of America (BEA). This year it was held in Washington, DC about three weeks ago. I enjoyed seeing friends I haven’t seen in a while from my bookselling days plus meeting so many new people. But, mostly, I love sitting down with authors and publishers and getting to know their work and selecting discussible books for you. Yes -- I do love my job!

Father’s Day is June 18 and Reading Group Choices does have some books for Dads!  Matthew Sharpe’s The Sleeping Father, Philip Roth’s The Plot Against America, Barbara Ehrenreich’s Bait and Switch, and Aaron Lansky’s Outwitting History. Happy Father’s Day!
