If you’ve noticed a few new touches around Reading Group Choices lately, this may be a good time for a quick introduction… Hello! I’m Amanda Angelini, and in February I stepped into the role of Executive Director of RGC, following in the footsteps of longtime director Mary Morgan. Over the past few months, I’ve been getting to know this incredible community of readers and book clubs, and thinking about what’s ahead.
One of the things that immediately stood out to me about Reading Group Choices is how deeply readers care about sharing books with one another. Not just recommending them, but really sharing them—passing along a dog-eared favorite, bringing a title to book club because “you have to read this,” or staying up far too late texting friends after finishing a novel with a particularly unforgettable ending.
The best book club books have a way of taking on a life beyond the page. They spark debates. They make us see characters differently. Sometimes they divide the room completely — which, honestly, often leads to the best discussions. Long after the final chapter, those stories keep finding their way back into conversation.
That’s part of what excites me most about stepping into this role. Reading Group Choices has long been a trusted resource for readers looking for discussion-worthy books, and I’m excited to continue building on that foundation while creating even more opportunities for readers to connect through books and conversation.
You’ll still find the monthly recommendations, giveaways, discussion guides, and featured titles you know and love — but I’m also looking forward to expanding the kinds of reader-focused features, themed recommendations, blog posts, and book club resources we share along the way.
At the end of the day, book clubs are about more than choosing the next title. They’re about connection—to stories, to ideas, and to one another. And in a world that often feels increasingly disconnected, that kind of shared experience matters more than ever.
I’m so glad you’re here, and I can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes us.
Happy Reading!
