June’s Spotlight is So Many Books, So Little Time
So Many Books, So Little Time Book Club meets monthly in our small town of Mt. Airy, NC (better know as Mayberry). We began meeting in March 2013 and have eight members. We are a group of retired educators and one honorary educator (a fabulous parent volunteer for many years) from two different school systems. Each of us knew someone in the group; none of us knew everyone, but we have become connected through books! We challenge each other to read outside of our comfort zone (or out of the rut we were in), and we each have learned so much from our reading and our discussions. We all look forward to getting together monthly to discuss our selected book and also any others we have read. This book group has definitely become an important part of my life, and I look so forward to it every month!
Description of picture: We do a book exchange each Christmas. We wrap a book in brown paper and write clues about it on the cover. Then we play a game to distribute the books. Throughout the year along with our monthly selection discussion, each person shares her opinion of the book she received. Sometimes one of these becomes our monthly selection for everyone. Other times the book gets passed around as an extra read. Fun!
