April 2019 Spotlight: Food for Thought

The members in our April 2019 Spotlight Group span the ages!

Food for Thought has been around since 2008. Typically 12-15 members meet in the Gering Library Community Room once a month to discuss a book.

“We make sure to include the One Book One Nebraska selection every year,” says leader Sherry Preston. Our members range in age from their 30s to their 90s, which makes for great discussions and varied experiences.

March 2019 Spotlight: Novel Thoughts

In our March Spotlight Group, everyone takes a turn being the leader!

We keep our group to 10 readers. We are in our late 60’s and early 70’s, and we meet once a month. Each fall we choose all of our books for the next year, and we always include one classic. Our leader also asks for comments so we can keep improving the group and discussions. We each lead the group once a year. The meetings are fun and creative, and we have a party in December. At the end of each meeting we go around the group and tell something fun that we have done or are going to do.

February 2019 Spotlight: Fact, Faith, and Fiction Book Group

Our February Spotlight Group brings a spiritual touch to their choices!

The Fact, Faith, and Fiction Book Group of Northfield, Minnesota meets monthly in the homes of members. We choose our books as a group three to four months ahead of time. Many are nonfiction, often with a spiritual bent.

Half of our group is new to the community, while the others are long-term residents of Northfield. It’s a great group that is always respectful of others’ thoughts and opinions. Wonderfully, we all have spouses so we can have couples social events.
