We talk to Allison Amend about her novel inspired by the Galapagos, Enchanted Islands.

Reading Group Choices enjoyed following Frances, the protagonist of the novel by Allison Amend, to Chicago, Nebraska, San Francisco, and of course the Galapagos Islands. In 2013 our ten members met at the local library and decided to organize the North Versailles Book Club. Even though we have different backgrounds (Artists, Teacher, Salesman, Homemaker, Minister, Business Owner and administrative assistant), we have one thing in common: our love of reading. Our meetings are the first Friday of the month at a local family restaurant.

Bringing Together Book Lovers in Your Area

Reading groups form for a variety of reasons, and in a variety of locations. A group may be made up of friends, co-workers, parents, neighbors, or people who were once strangers. A group may meet at a bookstore, home, cafe, church, or park. But, no matter the reason for creation, or the space that they are held, there is one common factor: book groups are filled with people who love reading and talking about books!

While it is hopefully easy for you to enjoy your book group, it is sometimes challenging to start one.
