May 2020 Spotlight: Reading Between the Wines
Our May Spotlight Group members leave books for one other on their doorsteps!
This is our small but wonderful book club called Reading Between The Wines that just started meeting in January of this year. We all belong to St Paul’s United Methodist Church in Carolina Beach, NC and met there several years ago. Since we all liked each other, I thought a book club would be a great great way to get to know each other better, since so many of us are retired educators.
Our first book discussion in February was for Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. So far we have read and discussed An American Marriage by Tayari Jones, Educated by Tara Westover and we are getting ready to discuss our next book, The Memory of Us by Camille DiMaio, via Zoom.
One of us buys the books on various websites that have fast shipping and then leaves them on the front doorsteps for everyone to pick up. We have also been enjoying weekly Happy Hour meetings on Zoom, since it is a great way to catch up with each other during the quarantine.
To enter to become a Spotlight group, email a picture and description of your group to firstname.lastname@example.org. If your group is chosen, we will send you and your group a box of discussable books and a copy of our most recent edition of Reading Group Choices!
