June’s Spotlight is So Many Books, So Little Time

So Many Books, So Little Time Book Club meets monthly in our small town of Mt. Airy, NC (better know as Mayberry). We began meeting in March 2013 and have eight members. We are a group of retired educators and one honorary educator (a fabulous parent volunteer for many years) from two different school systems. Each of us knew someone in the group; none of us knew everyone, but we have become connected through books! May Spotlight

May’s Spotlight is The Grundy Book Club

I’ve been a member of the Grundy Book Club which has been meeting at the Grundy Library in Bristol, PA for about 40 years and it is still going strong. Old members have died or moved on, but there have always been new ones eager to read and discuss that month’s book.

The discussions are led by a librarian and there is always lots of agreement and disagreement on the very books we have chosen to discuss. We are all women, except for one interesting man, about 30 to 1,

April Spotlight

April’s Spotlight is…

We’ve never thought to name our book club, but that actually suits us perfectly. While most of us have met each other through our monthly meetings, we now consider ourselves just a big group of girlfriends, first and foremost.

There are two rules that we follow: we only read female authors and we each have to bring a bottle of wine (under $10). As we discuss the book, we do a blind tasting and whoever gets the most votes gets a small, cute prize.
